Your primary logo is the MAIN DEAL. This is what most of us think of when we think of a logo. It includes the entire business name. May even include a tagline, location, or year established. It is the main mark to represent a business or brand. Primary Logos are the most familiar and easily recognized.Typically it will be used for things like your website, packaging, front of business cards, etc.
Your alternate logo goes hand in hand with your primary logo. They are essentially a variation of the primary logo. It keeps some of the important features of the main logo, but is its own entity. Typically if your primary is a horizontal logo, you’ll want an alternate logo that is stacked or vice versa. Primary and alternate logos are interchangeable and can really be used as you see fit.
Your submark logo is arguably one of your most used logos, especially if you exist mainly on social media. It is a smaller, simplified variation of your logo that is optimized for smaller places. Sub-marks can even implement just a single letter or symbol. It is commonly used for your social media profile images, stickers, watermarks, letterheads and any collateral. This logo really can be used anywhere. It is a more low key way / subtle way of displaying your branding.
